What product should I use? What product solves my problems? What is even the product for and how does it work? And here comes our part by making sure everything is crystal clear for you and by giving you a list of the best most suitable ingredients out there to take care of your every little problem. Have you ever heard of something called primer? How it’s so important for your skin and how it’s essential when it comes to makeup use? So many options and so many people recommending different types and uses for it can get you pretty confused. So, sit back and relax yourself as we break it down for you.

What is primer?

Whether you wear full makeup or the slightest amount of it on your face, adding a primer to your set is a must. From making a smooth layer for your makeup to evening your skin tone to helping your makeup to stay on all day without slipping, primers take care of you as if it was your bestie. Primer is a gel, liquid, or a cream that creates nothing but the best smoothest layer on your face for makeup to glide over. It retains the natural skin oil of the eyelids and it makes makeup last longer while looking better and smoother and it evens out your skin tone. It doesn’t even care about humidity or sweaty temps. Primers will make you not worry about such things anymore. By creating a non-oily surface on your skin for your foundation to stay on, it allows it to attach to your skin which makes the foundation last much longer without facing any problems. If you want to save some time you can always buy a foundation with a built-in primer in it which gives the same results while saving you some time. And if you love a natural fresh no-makeup look, primer is still your bestie. As it can be worn on its own on the eyelids and as a lighter replacement to foundation which gives you all the glow you need without using any kind of makeup.

What primer should I use?

As always here we take the skin type test to give your skin exactly what it needs. What kind of reaction does your skin give to your foundation? If your foundation looks like its melting then that means your skin is oily. If your foundation looks flaky that means you have dry skin. And if your foundation is causing you lots of redness that means your skin is sensitive. After you get that task out of the way you’re totally ready to choose your one and only primer.

For oily skin:

This type of skin requires a primer that is designed to control the natural skin oil. Basically, a primer that won’t make oily skin problems even worse or at least cause it. So, you’ll need a non-comedogenic primer which won’t cause acne or clogged pores. Some chamomile extract would be great to calm down inflammation.

For sensitive skin:

For this type of skin you’re going to need some protective active ingredients like vitamin D3, vitamin A and coenzyme Q which has anti-aging benefits along with an improvement of skin’s texture.

For dry skin:

As we all know, dry skin tends to be rough and flaky. So, all you need to do is to find a hydrating primer because it will make your foundation look less flaky and it will bring back the radiance to your skin. So we would recommend some vitamin C, E and A along with some plant-based oils to give your skin all the hydration it needs to smooth out.

How to properly apply primer:

  • Put a pea sized amount on the back of your hand.
  • Apply it to the center of your face using a gentle circular motion.
  • Allow it to dry completely.

We at Embrace put all of our effort just to give you what you need to stay naturally beautiful and to get rid of every possible question mark in your head regarding every skincare topic.
